Steven Horsford

Leading Resources+ is Steven Horsford, a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives and Nevada State Senate Majority Leader. Horsford’s policy expertise is extensive.  He has served on the House Committees on Financial Services, Homeland Security, Natural Resources, and Government Oversight and Reform.  He was one of five main co-sponsors of the comprehensive immigration reform legislation (HR15) in the 113th Congress and sponsored several legislative measures that were passed by Congress or implemented by President Barack Obama including:

  • Tule Springs National Monument Designation

  • Wovoka Wilderness Designation included in the omnibus public lands package

  • Criminal Justice reforms including for community policing training and the eradication of racial profiling, enacted through executive order

  • Gold Butte National Monument approved by President Obama

  • Transportation legislation including the establishment of Interstate-11

Prior to his service in Congress, Steven was the CEO of Nevada Partners and the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas where he established innovative training programs that have been nationally recognized by the White House and Department of Labor as best practice programs in workforce development.

  It is from these experiences that Steven was motivated in 2015 to start Resources+ so he could continue to put his heart into his work and make a difference in the lives of others. He is passionate about making a difference. He is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno and serves on the board of directors for the National Conservation Foundation, Nevada Partners and the National Skills Coalition and he is a member of the Former Members of Congress Association and participates regularly with Meridian International and the Aspen Institute, among others.

Steven and his wife, Sonya Douglass Horsford, are raising three smart and active children.
